The 2013/2014 CBM jazz season has become the season of large ensemble jazz. For the February performance we are increasing the numbers even further by having no less than eight musicians on the stage. Inspired by the medium sized jazz ensembles of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Gerry Mulligan, Shorty Rogers, Rob McConnell, Oliver Nelson, Charles Mingus, Wynton Marsalis and others, Octagone brings together the best of two musical worlds: tightknit ensemble arrangements as performed by Calgary’s finest small group jazz improvisers. Featuring a diverse program of jazz standards, bebop arrangements and original compositions Octagone delivers dynamic soloists while at the same time featuring a unique ensemble sound.

The cover fee for this performance is still $15 ($10 CBMCA members), but we do recommend for this evening an additional  donation of $5, so that we can send our musicians home with a descent musicians wage.
